Honda SUV Interior Space & Features

  • Seating Capacity: Honda's Passport, CR-V and HR-V models are two-row vehicles that offer seating for up to five occupants. The three-row 2021 Honda Pilot boasts 8-passenger seating as standard. While the CR-V, Passport and Pilot are all classified as mid-size SUVs, the Pilot is the clear choice for families that need that third row of seats.
  • Cargo Volume: Each of these Honda SUVs boasts impressive standard cargo capacity, which is measured when all seats are in the upright position. When you compare the dimensions of the cargo hold behind each model's first row of seats, you find that these models rank in cargo capacity the same as in their size. While the Pilot and Passport boast greater cargo capacity than the CR-V and HR-V, even the subcompact HR-V holds its own against its Honda stablemates -- and its nearest competition.
  • Cabin Flexibility: All of these Honda sport-utes boasts split-folding rear seating that lets drivers quickly configure the cabin for any combination of passengers and cargo. The HR-V is highlighted by Honda's innovative 60/40 Split 2nd-Row Magic Seat® that boasts four modes -- Tall, Long, Utility and Refresh -- to help optimize the space for what's next.
  • Infotainment & Connectivity: With large touchscreen displays and smartphone integration via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the lineup of Honda SUVs is primed to deliver a seamless and connected on-road experience for every driver. Even passengers can get in on the cabin connectivity with USB ports and Bluetooth wireless technology.

Honda SUV Performance & Capability

  • Engine: Honda's HR-V small SUV prioritizes fuel economy and comes equipped with a 1.8-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that lets you cruise efficiently. Starting with the 2020 model year, the new CR-V now comes standard with Honda's 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that develops 190 hp. Honda's proven 3.5-liter V6 engine powers the Passport and Pilot with 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque.
  • Transmission: Another area where the HR-V and CR-V differ from their larger Honda SUV siblings, the Passport and Pilot, is in the transmission utilized. A CVT or continuously variable transmission is fitted to the CR-V and HR-V for a virtually gearless experience and optimized efficiency. The more powerful Pilot and Passport mid-size SUVs utilize Honda's new 9-speed automatic transmission.
  • Drivetrain: All of these Honda SUVs come standard with front-wheel drive (FWD) but can be equipped with power driving all four wheels. Honda's famed Real Time AWD™ monitors and controls torque distribution to maximize traction in all road and weather conditions.
  • Towing Capability: Towing is not recommended with the HR-V small crossover. However, the CR-V and its turbo-four engine present a maximum tow rating of 1,500 pounds, or enough to tow a small trailer. The V6-powered Passport and Pilot SUVs can tow up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with AWD; these models tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds in FWD form.

Honda Sensing®

  • Availability: The Honda Sensing® suite of driver-assistive and safety technologies comes standard on all but the HR-V crossover. The HR-V EX trim and above are fitted with these advanced driver aids. The following features are part of this comprehensive package of safety systems.
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System™: This exclusive Honda technology can help bring your SUV to a stop with automatic emergency braking if a potential front collision is detected.
  • Road Departure Mitigation System: Stay on the road safely with this feature that can determine if you have crossed over detected lanes without signaling. With gentle steering input and braking pressure, the system can help guide you back to the center of your lane.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control: Maintain a set following distance behind the car ahead with adaptive cruise control. The Low-Speed Follow function can slow your vehicle to a stop before accelerating once traffic in front of you clears.
  • Lane Keeping Assist System: Highway cruising is made more stress-free with this technology that helps keep your Honda SUV centered in its intended lane.
